History of the property

The foundation stone of ‘Doon View’, as it was called before being renamed to “Pine Retreat”, was laid in 1916.

It was only in 1994 that the property was renamed to Pine Retreat.

The Hotel Structure is over 100 years old, which is now, completely renovated keeping in mind the old ambience of the place.

During the Second World War, this property served as a leave centre for military personnel.

The YWCA of Mussoorie purchased the property from Mr. William James Smith of Zephr Hall, Mussoorie.

Before that, Mr. Smith used the property to run a Summer School for a brief amount of time.
